Are You Texting in Your Used Cars?

used carsOne of the hot-button issues in the driving world today is the problem of texting while driving. According to a recent survey, more than 25 percent of drivers are texting while they are behind the wheel. Are you one of the drivers who are texting on their cell phone when you are driving your used cars?

Dave Grannan, an official with the mobile voice application company Vlingo, had this to say about the poll of 4,800 drivers that his company conducted: “We often like to say 26 percent of people admit to driving while texting. We are sure that underestimates the problem.” The scary thing is that more than 65 percent of new drivers (ages 16-19) are also texting while there are behind the wheel. “That’s scary,” said Grannan.

Vlingo conducted the poll because the company has a solution to the problem. It has invented a “voice user interface” technology that allows people to control their cell phones using only their voice. Since texting while driving has been banned in seven states and many other states are trying to pass similar legislation, voice-controlled cell phones would be a huge hit for drivers.

When driving your used cars, be responsible and keep your cell phone off or at least out of your hand. It could save your life and the lives of other innocent drivers.
