Bi-Annual and Yearly Checks to Make on Your Used Cars

used car dealersOn Monday, we told you the things you should check each week and each month on your used cars. Today we are discussing the things you do not have to check as often.

Every Six Months
If you are not driving your used cars an abnormal number of miles every six months, you can get by with checking the tread on your tires only twice each year. Look for spots with extra wear and tear that could indicate an alignment problem. Also, take a look at the brake pads. If they are beginning to wear down, consider changing them before they get too worn. Change your wiper blades, check your spark plugs and bounce on the corners of the car to evaluate the shocks and suspension systems.

Once a Year
Every year, you should check the timing belt and battery terminals on your used cars. Clean the battery terminals if they need it, but remember to disconnect the cables first. In addition to checking various components of your used cars each year, take it to a qualified mechanic for a checkup. They can often diagnose many problems in their beginning stages and fix them before they become very costly repairs.
