With the summer driving season upon us, you may be planning a long trip in your used cars. But whether you are driving a new car or one of the quality used cars from a Pennsylvania dealer, it’s always nice to be prepared in case of an emergency. Here are some things you should keep in an emergency roadside kit for your used cars.
• Extra quarts of oil
• Flashlight with extra batteries
• First aid kit
• Jumper cables in case your battery goes dead
• Engine coolant / antifreeze
• Fix-a-Flat
• Spare tire along with tire changing tools, such as jack and lug wrench
• Rags for wiping off dirt and grime and for wiping off greasy hands
• Duct tape for wrapping around leaks in hoses and other uses
• Snacks like granola bars or energy bars in case you get stranded for a long time
• Water so you can stay hydrated
• Blankets in case you get stranded at night and help cannot arrive for hours
• Roadside flares to alert others of your troubles
• Basic tools like screwdrivers, pliers and such for easy and simple repairs
All of this stuff should fit in a small suitcase or container in your trunk (except for the spare tire, at least). A little bit of preparation can keep a breakdown on vacation from becoming a major disaster.
