Drive across the Country in Your Used Cars
Many people have the idea that used cars are unreliable for long trips. However, one man is out to prove that notion wrong.
Chris Hedgecock bought a car for less than $1,000 more than two years ago. In order to dispel the notion that used cars are unreliable, he decided to drive it across the country. He recently made a stop in New Orleans on his voyage to do interviews about his plan.
The car he bought for the journey was a 1974 LeMans. He had to give it some TLC in order to make sure it would drive across the country, but he said he only spent about $200. After that, it was “ready to hit the road from San Diego to Miami.” Hedgecock said he has not had any problems with the used car the entire trip.
The best part about his purchase is that he owns the car free and clear. Since used cars are generally less expensive than new ones, he does not have any car payments. “You might have to learn how to fix a car yourself,” he explained, “but at the end you’re going to have a car and no debt.”
Don’t let the naysayers sway your decision to purchase a used car. With a little car and dedication, you can run your used car just like it was new!
