As we draw to a close on our illustrious Master the Marketplace series, you may be noticing that we’ve spent an awful lot of time discussing the mental preparations required to buy a used car on today’s used car lots. This can not be taken seriously enough, as the mental chess match of buying a used car is something that many potential customers take lightly. When that occurs, many potential customers wind up with bad deals and we are not in the business of seeing you get a bad deal.
If you’ve been paying attention so far, you know that research and preparation is important. We’ve given you a few sources to use and told you a few of the tricks of the trade. Now it’s time to delve in a little deeper to how the used cars market works and what you’re looking for.
In terms of action, nothing cuts straight to the point like a good old fashioned test drive. Take one. Take a good, long one. Drive home with the car, drive on the freeway, drive on roads you’ve never driven on, get lost, drive at high speeds, drive at low speeds, drive on inclines, do whatever it takes…
The idea behind any good test drive is to determine how the car responds to action. Remember that word because we’re going to be using it a lot in the next couple of days. The time for research and preparation is over. A time for action has begun and you will have the used car of your dreams if you can be a man or woman of action.
