Are you looking for another way to save money on your insurance premiums for your used cars? If so, look into taking an online course.
In New York, drivers have the option of going online and taking a simulated driving test for $50. But if the person taking the test does well, they can save up to hundreds of dollars a year just based on their test results. New York is the newest state to offer these online driving courses which help drivers save money on their insurance while taking up to four points off their license, too.
The savings, which can shave off up to 10 percent from a driver’s annual premium, are good for up to three years. After that, drivers can retake the course to reinstate the savings. That’s good news for New York drivers as they are required to pay some of the highest insurance rates in the nation.
“In some parts of New York state, you’re probably paying almost as much to insure a vehicle as you are to finance it,” explained a spokesperson for AAA New York.
The course teaches drivers about tips and techniques for preventing collisions, how to drive defensively and the dangers of alcohol and drugs when you are behind the wheel among other issues that drivers face on the roads.
