Certified used cars are a great investment. They offer high quality for “like new” cars without the high price. But certified used cars are only great buys if you do some homework and ask some questions before buying one. Here are some questions you should at least consider before buying a certified used car.
Who has certified the car?
When buying a certified used car, you want to make sure the manufacturer has certified it. A manufacturer-endorsed certification holds more weight because their mechanics specialize in those cars. Many manufacturers also offer a warranty when they have certified a vehicle.
How was the car certified?
Before buying a certified car, be sure to look at the vehicle history report. Any car that has been involved in a major accident cannot have an official certification. There are also other factors that may be listed on the report that could disqualify certification. Also, the car must go through an extensive checkup before getting the “certified” label.
How good is the warranty?
Any certified used car will come with some type of warranty. Make sure you know what type of warranty your certified car comes with before making your purchase.
