With everybody pinching pennies these days, you would probably think people would be going easy on luxury and focusing on practicality. But from the looks for the sales figures of luxury used cars, that does not seem to be the case.
Steven Jones with Lamborghini Carolinas had this to say about what he has noticed on his own lot: “Used car sales are actually up, which is a bit surprising with everything in this market you read and everything you see would make you think that cars are growing roots at the dealership.” He went on to say that it’s been difficult to keep luxury used cars in stock on his lot and other dealers are having the same problem.
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that sales of used Lexus vehicles were up by nearly 20 percent in January 2009. Sales of used Mercedes-Benz vehicles were up by nearly 30 percent when compared with January 2008. Those are astonishing numbers and they just go to show that people are looking for a bargain even if it is a luxurious used car.
