Taking care of your used cars during the summer months is important. The hot weather can wreak havoc on your used cars if you are not careful. Here are some common answers to summer car care that you should know.
The Heater Cools the Engine
If your engine starts heating up, one way to cool it off is to turn your heater on. Of course, you will get much hotter on the inside of the car if you do this, but it is better than allowing your radiator to get damaged from excessive heat.
Cars Require Thicker Oil in Summer
Car manufacturers say it is a good idea to use thicker oil than normal during the summer, but make sure it isn’t too thick. Most manufacturers suggest 10W-30 for your used cars during the hot times.
Plain Water Is Not Best for Your Engine
Always use a 50-50 mix of coolant and water regardless of what time of year it is. You can buy premixed coolant at the store and it is less expensive than the concentrated coolant, too.
