Triggering the Traffic Cameras in Your Used Cars
There are very few drivers (if any) who enjoy traffic cameras. However, they do serve a purpose in a community by bringing down speeds and causing drivers to be more cautious when going through intersections. But do you know how traffic cameras are triggered when driving your used cars? Here is a brief explanation of how the technology works.
• Red light cameras typically have a sensor located underneath the pavement that is below the traffic light. These sensors are usually at the white strip before you proceed into the intersection.
• Traffic light cameras are only active once the light turns red.
• If you are in the intersection when the light turns red, you will not activate the camera.
• If your front wheels are past the sensor when the light turns red, you should be safe. So being in the middle of an intersection waiting to make a left turn when the light turns red will not trigger the camera.
• Most yellow lights are only three seconds long. Keep this in mind when approaching a traffic light that has turned yellow.
These are just a few facts about traffic light cameras to keep in mind when driving your used cars. Of course, each city and municipality is different when it comes to traffic laws, so you might be safer to not even risk getting a ticket by paying attention to the light and being a safe and courteous driver.

I read about traffic camera would not be set off if car speed is below 15mph is that true?
I made a left turn on green arrow and got hit by a car going straight( running red light) but the camera did not get picture of the car. do you think it is possible that the car was moving slowly and did not cause camera to be triggered?
do you think this argument can hold in the court?
i made a left turn on green arrow and got hit by a car going straight on the main road.
as i was sure I made the turn in the right time i searched why that car was not caught on the camera. I found out (typically a speed between 15-20mph is needed to set off camera).
do you think this argument is good.?
