Consider getting a vehicle history report from CarFax or another service. This can tell you about any major problems that have happened with the vehicle.
Have A Mechanic Inspect The Car
If possible, get a third party mechanic to look at the used vehicle. In some cases, you might be able to buy a certified used vehicle, which means the car has undergone a significant mechanical inspection.
