We just received our first SmartMirror that we are installing in a Honda. This is a very cool gadget that combines the rearview mirror, a GPS Navigation System, Bluetooth and a Rearview Back Up camera. One of the guys in the shop is installing this unit. We will post more information and a video later. This unit provides an attractive alternative to customers looking for the functionality that this system provides while maybe not wanting to step up to the trim level necessary to get a factory installed navi/bluetooth/back up camera system. All New 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS is Named Best in Residual Value by ALG

Hyundai Motor America just announced that the all new 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS was named best in residual value by Automotive Lease Guide (ALG), the industry leader for establishing automotive residual values. As stated in the Hyundai press release, the 2011 Hyundai Sonata, now available at Lehigh Valley Hyundai, outperformed “competitive 2010 models from Toyota, Nissan, Ford and Chevrolet in addition to premium brands such as Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes.”
This is quite an accomplishment for Hyundai and firmly establishes the brand as a big time player in the American retail automobile market. Stop by and check out the all new 2011 Hyundai Sonata at your local Allentown Hyundai dealer.

I will often read the reviews before I buy a book. Why should it be any different when you decide where to buy your next car or get an oil change?

Honda Oil Changes with 0W-20 Synthetic Motor Oil are Becoming the Norm

We’ve been getting a lot of questions lately at Lehigh Valley Honda about motor oil. A lot of customers are now driving Honda’s that call for 0W-20 motor oil which is slightly more expensive than the more commonly used 5W-20 but it also performs better. Until recently, 0W-20 motor oil was only being used in hybrids. That’s not the case anymore. If you drive a 2010 Honda CR-V, 2010 Accord Crosstour, 2010 Insight, 2003-2010 Civic Hybrid or a 2000-2006 Insight, then you will be impacted by this. The good new is that our Honda auto service center team can explain why. If you have any questions about this topic, please do not hesitate to contact us. Hybrid driver’s should be accustomed to this by now as Honda hybrids have always used this type of motor oil. Here is Honda’s explanation for the migration to 0W-20 motor oil in the more common Honda products:
Without a doubt, oil plays a major part when it comes to an engine’s performance and health. 0W-20
engine oil is fast becoming the recommended service fill for many new Honda models (and those from
other automakers), replacing the ever-popular 5W-20. Why? Because in engines designed for its use,
it provides superior starting performance and fuel economy without the risk of premature engine wear.
Engine wear typically happens when you start the engine cold and it’s warming up, so it’s really important
for the engine oil to get to work right away. 0W-20 is a very low-viscosity oil that’s specially formulated to
quickly reach critical engine components when the engine is started. It also helps the engine use less fuel.
The zero in 0W-20 doesn’t mean zero viscosity; it means superior low-temperature performance.
Honda has been developing and testing engines for a number of years now with the expectation that
someday 0W-20 would become the oil of choice. It’s been used in many Honda models sold in Europe and
Japan since 2001 with no reported problems, and it’s been the factory fill for all Insights and Civic Hybrids
sold in the U.S.

Lehigh Valley Honda to Host Free Hybrid Car Safety Clinic for Area Firefighters and First Responders
Emmaus, PA – July 8, 2009 – Lehigh Valley Honda, in partnership with the Eastern PA EMS Council and Lehigh County Community College, will be hosting firefighters, EMS Technicians and other first responders at a Hybrid Car Safety Clinic at their facility located on the Lehigh Street Auto Mile in Emmaus. Due to the success and overwhelming demand from previous Hybrid Car Safety Clinics, Lehigh Valley Honda will be hosting two separate clinics this year. The first clinic is scheduled for Thursday July 23rd and the second will be held on Thursday August 6th. Both will be from 6:30-9:00pm. Topics discussed during the five breakout sessions at each event will cover how to disable a hybrid car battery, fire hazards posed by hybrid cars, the effects of water on hybrid cars, and air bag sensor locations and causes of deployment.
Lehigh Valley Honda began conducting these clinics a few years ago in response to stories in the national news media about firefighters and EMS technicians being killed when they responded to accidents involving hybrid cars where the complex hybrid battery systems ended up electrifying the bodies of the cars as a result of the accident. “First responders were approaching the cars not knowing that they were hybrids and they ended up getting electrocuted when they attempted to rescue the victims. Hearing this, we felt compelled to reach out to first responder in the Lehigh Valley and beyond and offer to educate them on ways to spot a hybrid” said Paul Goodwin, General Manager of Lehigh Valley Honda. “The response has been overwhelming.”
Firefighters, EMS technicians and other first responders interested in participating are being asked to register with John Ott of Lehigh County Community College. Registration and participation are free for interested parties. Registration inquiries can be sent to Mr. Ott via email to johnott@lehighcounty.org.

As their post mentions, Honda isn’t just committed to building environmentally friendly cars, they are also committed to an environmentally friendly manufacturing process. I am sure that the all new 2010 Honda Insight will be built in one of these environmentally friendly factories. Check out the above video on the Insight.
