Gas prices aren’t getting any cheaper lately. They may have gone down a few cents, but they will never get back to the good ol’ days when prices were below $1.50 a gallon. Even if they did, who couldn’t use some gas-saving tips that will put more money back in your pocket? Here are three things you can do when driving your used cars to help you use less fuel.

1. Turn off your car. If you’re going to idle for more than 20 seconds, you will actually save fuel by turning off your used car instead of letting it run. This is especially useful in drive-thru lanes and traffic congestions.
2. Slow down. The faster you drive, the more gas you’re going to use. If you drive the speed limit and accelerate smoothly, you’ll notice a positive difference in the amount of gas you use.
3. Pick a less traveled route. If you commute to work or take the kids to school every day, you can save gas if you find a route with fewer drivers going to the same place. This way, you can avoid a lot of stop-and-go traffic which can wreak havoc on your gas mileage.

Use these and other fuel-saving tips in your used cars and you’ll save money that you would rather spend on something other than the gas pumps.
