What’s my car worth?

One of the questions we hear all of the time is “What’s my car worth?” or “What can I get for my trade in?” The answer to that question is lot more complicated than most people think. We still use a lot of the same resources we have always used to arrive at a cars trade in value. It’s just that in today’s age of instant information, we are able to make decisions based on real time market conditions. Much like the stock market where daily changes in business conditions dictate the price of a stock, the same goes for used cars. With that said, here is what you can expect from us:

- We have a team of professionally trained appraisers who know the ins and outs of a car. They keep monitor market conditions on a daily basis by consulting various online and printed sources for information such as Manheim Auto Auctions, the National Auto Auction Association database, Kelley Blue Book, Black Book and NADA Used Car Guide Book to name a few
- As we begin the trade in appraisal process, one of our team members will ask you a series of questions about the history of your vehicle to learn more about how you have maintained it, if you were the original owner, if the vehicle was ever in an accident to your knowledge, etc.
- Our appraisers look for the following when beginning the appraisal process:
o Verification of mileage on the odometer
o Make sure that all VIN plates match throughout the vehicle
o evidence of previous body damage, frame damage, previous paint work or flood damage
o they will look for cosmetic blemishes such as dings, dents and scratches
o they will look to see if the engine runs properly, if the transmission shifts properly, if the air conditioning blows cold and how much tread remains on the tires to name a few
- After a complete visual inspection has been conducted, the appraiser will consult the various resources we use that I mentioned earlier, including the possibility of running a Carfax vehicle history report, to arrive at the value of your vehicle taking into account the findings of his or her inspection of the vehicle in conjunction with the information shared during our discussion with you at the beginning of the process
